Leaving the grey behind

After years of freelancing from Wigan, I wanted a change of scene and a better balance between work and life. Chiang Mai kept coming up in conversations with other designers and developers, so I went to see for myself.

A day that works

My working day now runs from 2pm to 10pm Thailand time. That overlaps neatly with the full UK working day and the US morning, so agencies get same-day replies while I get quiet mornings for deep creative work.

The pace of life, the food and the community of remote workers make it an easy place to stay focused and well.

What it means for the work

Nothing about the quality or communication has changed, except that I’m more rested and more focused. It’s the best decision I’ve made, for me and for the clients I work with.
